Sydney Australia: Luna Park + XIA(Sydney Concert)

XIA Junsu, a member from the Korean Pop Group JYJ held his first ever concert in Sydney, Australia on the 28th September as part of his INCREDIBLE World Tour. And boy was it amazing. It was held in a concert venue at Luna Park a petite amusement park located in the heart of Sydney. Over 3000 fans attended, and it was truly a magical experience.

What more can a girl ask for on a dreamy hot summers day. A beautiful seaside view. And most importantly a cute boy who could work his honey like vocals.

XIA performed and worked the audience, creating an energetic and addictive atmosphere while performing his popular songs from his two albums. He mesmerised with his synchronised and structured choreography and combination of both pop and ballad tracks. What made the experience magical was that during a slow ballad, the whole audience went quiet listening intently, it was so quiet that you could literally hear a pin drop in that packed audience hall.

It was truly magical.

PS. for those who haven't been to Luna Park I recommend it, although it does not feature particularly thrilling rides or special shows, the view of Sydney Harbour is beautiful. And did i mention that it is free entry. You can stay for the whole day without spending a cent for all they care.

Australia: Sydney's Bipolar weather

For all those who have lived in Australia for an extended period of time, I'm sure you've experienced Sydney's bipolar weather. The cycle usually goes like this , within the course of one hour. One minute it's sunshine and rainbows. THE NEXT pouring torrential rain. Another minute passes and we have a slight drizzle. The sky lights up and the clouds part. THEN COMES THE SUN-SHOWER.
School uniforms never dry in time, those jeans i wanted to wear are still damp and all that we've gained from today's weather is a fading rainbow.
Honestly i'd rather Winter be a snowy landscape, filled with aromatic pine trees and snowmans. Like this. (check out my post about Korea's Winterwonderland) http://myheartremembersyou.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/interesting-things-about-korea-nami.html

Recommendation: Korean Drama MONSTAR

This drama is right in every way in terms of acting, filmography, plot and beautiful characterisation. It strives beyond the cliche teenage angst, by drawing upon the mystery and secrets of each teenage kid who learns to fall and getback up through music and friendship. It's both cutesy and light with a good balance between humour and the darker realties of finding our step and place in the world.

It's definitely a worthy piece to watch even if it just to soak up the warm and fuzzy goodness of a heartwarming non cliche plot.

Interesting Things About Korea: Kimchi

Kimchi. It's so famous that it has it's own museum in Korea. It's status in Korean cuisine has been elevated to be the representative food of Korea.

So. What is Kimchi?

Kimchi is a spicy pickled/ fermented cabbage that is often enjoyed as a side dish in Korean meals. There are over hundreds of varieties of kimchi that are purely based on the simple idea of pickling vegetables. Kimchi is an amazing side dish and can be made with almost anything from the more traditional Chinese cabbage to  radishes, anchovies and green onion. Kimchi is relatively easy to make, in the case that you have all the necessary ingredients. The most traditional type of kimchi is made from a blend of salt, garlic, Chinese cabbages, vinegar, pepper paste, fish sauce, spring onions and other spices. For a simple kimchi recipe visit http://www.easykoreanfood.com/Kimchi-Recipe.html

Originally Kimchi was eaten to provide a refreshing taste in the mouth after the heavy flavours of Korean cuisine. It helps digestion, prevents yeast infections and has been suggested by studies to prevent the growth of cancerous cells, as it is infused with large amounts of Vitamin A, B and C. Likewise it is often used in a variety of Korean dishes ranging from soups, to fried kimchi rice or simply as a side dish.

Concept Page: Perceptions and light

What if.... there was no sun in this world. Would the world be enveloped in perpetual darkness? would it really be as corrupt and misguided as painted in numerous movies and texts?

Who said that man and nature could not live in harmony with each other? This photo challenges this notion of harmony between humans and the natural world with a light ray that filters through the foliage and the subtle presence of the skyscraper in the background encapsulates this moment where the ideal world of ideological balance exists, even if it is for a mere second. it only really ever takes just a second or two to realise these alluring qualities in both humanity and nature.

Concept Page: Meaning behind the title.

What if..? That question in itself is hideous, disguising itself behind the superficial pretense of hope and optimism. But is it really? Questions that start with the two simple words "what if..?" are simply empty statements which illustrate the empty fantasies about what could have been. Life in itself is a complex concept in which the infamous question of what life's purpose is, still remains a mystery. That purpose can be as simple as to continue to live OR to simply live to maybe one day leave a mark.

What if..? What if.. i no longer existed tomorrow? What if ...i was rich? What if... i never find love?

Empty hopes and dreams which are poised in such beautifully crafted ideas. The mere comfort of being able to question what could have been provides comfort to those who seek to dwell on the past and have doubts about the future.

To those who constantly ponder what if... is it really worth the mounds of regret that pile up every time that phrase is revisited? One day, when time is finally running short, the regret of having spent time on such a phrase, will be the true regret that hits you full force like a slap across the face.

Heartrendingly true.

I thought i'd share some of these really nice quotes with you guys.....

  • That woman believes fate is a string that quietly connects her heart to another. Following that invisible string, even if it vibrates a little, it is what allows people to feel and understand each other. When one person's heart suddenly gets mixed in with so many other hearts it starts to make that woman feel uneasy. So fate, please stop tugging so hard at my heart to pull me in.

  • That woman's scars make her feel like she is sinking under water. Spectators who don't know how deep that scar is simply advise heron ways to escape from it. There are too many people who are rude to other's scars. That woman's didn't want to hear such empty words. At least from this one person.....

  •   Sometimes people who pass by each other remain afterward in the heart. It isn't until after the separation that the depth and weight of the encounter is truly understood. That woman believes that life is the repetition of that belated realization.

  • That woman’s door did not open for a long time. Invitations began to pile on her doorstep, two, then three. A person who came close like a new breeze, a person who blocks a gale like a shelter from the wind. For the first time, that woman grows afraid of her own desire to open her door.

Korean Food: Ttoekkbokki

A motto I've learnt to adopt is that Food = The World! It does in the sense that you can experience the cultures of the world through specific cuisine. For me nothing beats down to earth street side stalls, which are  pockets of joy that contain the most delicious, traditional and unique foods you can find at a reasonably low price. One of these is the famous TtoekBokKi. It is a popular snack, made from fish cakes, rice cakes, a spicy/sour/tangy sauce along with onions and other vegetables. It is like fireworks in your mouth, not just from the spiciness of the sauce but also from the different textures, that arise from the combination of rice cake and fishcake, along with the freshness of the vegetables.

Definitely encourage you to experience the fireworks yourself.

Interesting Things About Korea: Gyeongbokgung Palace

Every kid has dreamed of being a Queen, King, Prince or Princess in this modern society, with fancy tea parties and magnificent billowing dresses. However in reality, the palaces that stand today are rather dull places, with an air of heritage rather than that elegance and grandeur that we seek.

The two words History and Heritage sums up Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is situated in Northern Seoul, South Korea, and was historically destroyed by the Japanese Empire in the early 20th century. It has since been rebuilt. It features:

  • the Geunjeongjeon (throne hall)
  • Main Gates
  • Gangnyeonjeon (King;s quarters)
  • Donggung (Palace of the Crown Prince)
  • Pavilions
Scene from The Moon That Embraces The Sun
The scenery's beautiful and is a popular tourist spot. A lot of historical Korean dramas were filmed here such as the Moon That Embraces the Sun and Dae Jang Guem, just to name a few.
